Course Introduction ::


7. Course Structure ::

If you are using a touch device on the top there is a quick access tool bar and choose "Touch/Mouse Mode".

If someone is using MS Project using their hand device they can opt for this option. However for our session we shall be using Mouse as our option.

The project that we are going to learn through this is a Wedding - "Arranging a Wedding"

This course does not cover " Excel VBA is Microsoft's programming language for Excel " -  This is something that we need to learn it in a separate course  -- Find Out.

New Features in Microsoft 2016 : 

  • We have number of time lines -- Meaning more flexible timelines then project 2013
  • Better control over resource scheduling . This is useful for users who are using project online as well. since we are not using project online we will not be dealing much into it.
  • Do things quickly with tell me
  • New themes for project -- we will discuss about this when we look at project workspace in the session.

  The Project 2016 Workspace  ::
  • Entry Bar
  • Time line  -- View -- Timeline - make sure it is ticked
  •  Gantt Chart Tools  - Gantt Chart includes two parts - It consists of a list of tasks, it is actually a table. And on the right we have the chart it self where we normally have a pictorial representation of the charts in your project. There will be situation where you will have to show one or many other charts that you can show.
  • Status Bar and on the right hand side you have controls for the view
  • Last part of the workspace is the called the "Back-Stage" or the "Back Stage View" -- This is where work on the contents of the project, administration of project -- Click "File " on the Top Menu on the ribbon to take you to the back stage view.

 Online Help ::
  • you are restricted if your not online, lets see how we access help offline .
  • F1 keyboard shortcut or the ? mark on the top right corner in the backstage
  • Tell me what you want to do ? 
Ribbons and Toolbars ::
  • About the customization of the ribbon , the Quick Access tool bar, Moving below the task basr and up , Collapsing ribbon and many other.
Status Bar :: 
  • The different views  available on the status bar. and the views that we can use to see
  
Keyboard Shortcuts and Tips ::

 Press the alt key on the key board and it brings in the shortcuts on the screen 

 
 Section 3: Project Beginner: Using Touch ::
 
This session is more on the touch screen features or those who use a touch device to access their MS Project.

 Section 4: Project Beginner: Project Options ::

Project options represents your own personalization of your installation or your project . And in the way you use project in your projects. To access project options you need to go to your backside view and choose "options" option
 
 Section 5: Project Beginner: Task Basics :: 

Entering Tasks ::

This need not be in an order the tasks can be in any order.
